About Beth
About Me
I was born and raised in Cynon Valley, where I still live with my husband and children. I am a Welsh speaker, and am keen to promote the language. I was recently awarded a doctorate from Swansea University in social exclusion and its effect on older people.
Before entering parliament I worked for the University & College Union Wales. Previously I have worked for Shelter as a caseworker covering RCT, and as a community worker in Penywaun.
I am constantly inspired by the resilience of people in the Cynon Valley, and their determination to make things better.
My 7 main pledges to the people of the Cynon Valley
-
I will be a visible and available local MP, working in the interests of the communities of the Cynon Valley.
-
I will work to develop a green industrial revolution to tackle climate change, create new jobs and promote an integrated public transport system.
-
I will work to get Wales its fair share of funding from Westminster, to provide the services we need, like good quality health & social care, housing & education.
-
I will work to make sure that the good work done in Cynon Valley by so many local people is celebrated and promoted.
-
I will fight to end Tory austerity policies that have been so damaging to our communities.
-
I will work to save our NHS from the onslaught of Tory privatisation.
-
I will work to ensure that the wealthy pay their fair share to help run the country for the benefit of all.
