Earlier this year I sent a leaflet to everybody in Cynon Valley which included a brief survey asking people to identify their priorities for action and their view on what should be celebrated more in Cynon Valley. This report presents the results of this survey and lists proposed actions for me to take as the MP for Cynon Valley.
The brilliant response to my survey has made clear that people feel the current economic settlement isn’t working for them. People want an economy based on full employment with fair pay, they want investment in town centres and urgent action to protect our environment.
We can’t afford to spend time tinkering with the current system, we need transformational change like there was in 1945. That’s why I’ve commissioned research into the Post-Covid economy of the Cynon Valley.
Too often we refer to our communities as being post-industrial. We can be rightly proud of our heritage but I want to focus on the economy of the future, not the past. That’s what this research is all about.
