Beth Winter MP launches Pension Credit Campaign following TV Licences change.

I am campaigning to encourage all pensioners aged 75+ to apply for pension credit.

In spite of opposition from a range of organisations, the BBC started charging for TV licences for the over 75s from August 1st this year.

Those pensioners who are 75+ and receive Pension Credit will still be eligible for a free TV Licence. I am determined that no pensioner should pay unnecessarily for their TV licence in Cynon Valley, and I’m delighted that Age Connects Morgannwg, Citizens Advice RCT and Alzheimers Cymru are supporting my campaign.

Thousands of older people in Wales are missing out on Pension Credit that they are entitled to. The average amount of Pension Credit claimed is £58 per week. This could add up to as much as an extra £3000 per year.

If you think you may be eligible for Pension Credit please contact my office on 01685 243166.
